8th Grade DC Trip is Back

The 8th grade Washington DC Trip will be May 10-13, 2023. There will be an informational meeting on September 28, 2022 at 7:00pm in the McDowell auditorium. All information and details will be presented at that time.

Back to School Information

A welcome letter will be mailed to all middle school students the week of July 25, 2022.
You can access a digital copy by clicking here, 22-23 Back to School Letter.pdf
The letter contains important information about the start of school, Open House night, school supplies, school and sports fees, breakfast and lunch prices, 7th grade vaccinations, annual registration updates and important dates for the upcoming school year. There is also important information about attendance.

We will not hold a traditional Back to School Night prior to the start of school. on the first day of school, students will report directly to the gymnasium when they enter the building. We will greet and talk with students in the gym to begin the day. paper schedules will be handed out at that time and students will be split up into their classes for building tours and other beginning of the year housekeeping items.
On Wednesday, September 14th we will have an Open House/Meet the Teachers event from 5-6:00pm. More details are in the letter.

With the increase cost in school supplies, along with everything else, we are trying to ease that burden.
Each student will be supplied with the following, in addition to their Chrome Book;
1 personal dry erase board with eraser and marker
1 composition notebook and 1 spiral notebook, college ruled
5 - 2 pocket folders
1 box of colored pencils
7th grade will receive a 1.5" binder
8th grade will receive a 1" binder
Students will have access to loose-leaf notebook paper, glue sticks and scissors when needed.
Students may choose to purchase their own supplies and will be responsible for their own if they loose or use them up.

Students are responsible for supplying the following on their own;
Scientific Calculator (Texas instrument, TI-30x IIs)
There may be limited specific supplies needed based on different class that students will find out when school begins.

Breakfast and Lunch Update

Due to a change in USDA policy, the Logan Elm School District will no longer be able to offer free meals to all students during the 2022-2023 school year. Parents may still apply for free or reduced benefits by filling out a meal application. The 2022-2023 meal application will be available at www.loganelm.org after August 1, 2022. The new prices for breakfast and lunch will be shared with everyone at the beginning of August. - Ginger Selin, Logan Elm Schools Food Service Director.

How to use Google Drive in "offline" mode

The link below will give you instructions for how to use Google Drive in "offline" mode. I understand that many of you already know how to do this, but I wanted to level the playing field and make sure everyone has the same information. If you have "spotty" or unreliable internet, if you have a lot of people sharing a connection, or if you are concerned about data caps and overage charges, this can be a big help and good tool. Basically, it allows you to access and work on files without being online. Then you can share the files later when you're back online. Follow the directions below to make files available offline and how to make your offline work available online again.
