How to use Google Drive in "offline" mode

The link below will give you instructions for how to use Google Drive in "offline" mode. I understand that many of you already know how to do this, but I wanted to level the playing field and make sure everyone has the same information. If you have "spotty" or unreliable internet, if you have a lot of people sharing a connection, or if you are concerned about data caps and overage charges, this can be a big help and good tool. Basically, it allows you to access and work on files without being online. Then you can share the files later when you're back online. Follow the directions below to make files available offline and how to make your offline work available online again.

Logan Elm Transitioning to Remote learning December 11-18.

All extra-curricular activities, games and practices, are paused until December 27th, at which time their status will be re-evaluated.

Email sent to students 11/19/20

The classwork and assignments being posted/assigned during remote learning is required and will be graded. You need to be turning them in as you get them finished. If you have any paper copies, you need to turn them in when we return to school.
All assignments are officially due on December 2nd, when grades will be finalized.
If you have questions, reach out to your teachers. They are available during school hours to answer questions through email, Google Classroom, etc.

You cannot return on December 1st and say that you didn't understand so you didn't do the work.

There is no need to request paper copies if you have internet access. You have a school-issued chromebook to complete your work with.

Remember, we have Blocksi, we can see what you are on. Being able to watch youtube on your Chromebook and then trying to say you can't do the school work is not acceptable.
Playing online video games and being all over Social Media and then trying to say you can't do the school work is also not acceptable.

Just do your school work. Don't procrastinate. Many of you have grades that are suffering because you do not do the work when you are home.

Nov. 17th - Nov. 24th Virtual Learning

Students need to check Google Classroom daily for assignments during virtual learning. All assignments are required and graded.
Some teachers have posted all assignments for the time period and some will be breaking them up. All work is officially due on Dec. 2nd. However, DO NOT wait until the end to try and catch up on everything. Students can reach their teachers with questions through email and Google Classroom throughout the school day.
If teachers hold live check-ins they will be following the 2-hr delay schedule to meet with their classes. That schedule can be found under student and/or parent resources.
Students can request paper copies IF they do not have internet. Those can be picked up at the school between 8:00-2:00 this week.
If you have internet, you should NOT be requesting paper copies. All students have a school-issued Chromebook that they can do their work on. For example... if they can play video games on-line and be all over social media, they can do their school work on-line!

One Call Message 11-16-2020

We are virtual Nov. 17th - 24th. Students need to check Google Classroom for assignments. These assignments are required and will be graded. All work will be due on December 2nd. Students without internet access may pick up copies at the McDowell office between 8:00-2:00. Teachers can be reached by email or Google Classroom during the school day. We will have food pick-up for breakfast and lunch items on Wednesday from 11:00 - 1:30 pm at Laurelville Elementary and at McDowell along the side of the building by the gym. We will be providing meals for 5-7 days.

Athletic Event Protocol REMINDERS

It is a PRIVILEGE to play sports and it is a PRIVILEGE to watch our kids play sports. The student-athletes are doing what they need to do to make these seasons happen. Parents MUST to do the same. It is VITAL when you attend events to WEAR YOUR MASK and keep yourself and your family socially distanced from others in the stands. It will only cause problems for our student-athletes if the adults can not do what they need to. Please be considerate and courteous to everyone. This is the same protocol for both home events and away events. If you are not wearing a mask, you will be asked to leave. If we cannot handle this, we will be forced to restrict fans from being in attendance. It does not matter what you think about the policy. It is the policy that we have been given and must enforce. If you want to watch your kids play it is very simple... WEAR YOUR MASK AND PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING.

The Start to School

It has been a great start to school. It is wonderful seeing the students again and settling into a "somewhat normal" routine. First and foremost, I want to say how proud I have been of the students at school. They have done a great job wearing their face masks while at school. They have adjusted quite well and are doing what they need to in order to be at school. Obviously there have been some other adjustments and a little bit of a learning curve for everyone with the blended model. Students are learning to be responsible on those days when they are at home. Please encourage them at home to get accomplished what they need to for each class. Those days at home are days of school in which they need to work.
The sports seasons are in full swing now. Just a few reminders with this. it is a privilege to play sports and it is a privilege to watch our kids play sports. The students are doing what they need to do to make these seasons happen. Parents need to do the same. It is vital when you attend events to wear your mask and keep yourself and your family socially distanced from others in the stands. It will only cause problems for our student-athletes if the adults do not do what they need to. Please be considerate and courteous to everyone.
