Introducing the Logan Elm Story Walk Boards!

Logan Elm is excited to welcome our students, staff and community to one of our favorite new additions to campus!

Thanks to a grant written by Maddie Pontius, 3rd grade teacher at LE, and funding from the Logan Elm Education Foundation (LEEF), we now have 12 Story Walk boards placed along the walking path outside our building. The first board is located at the Logan Elm bench near the start of the path, outside the doors from our 1st and 2nd grade hallways. The last board is near the workout equipment by the tennis courts on campus.

Our reading specialists have put the first book in place, Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun. The story is all about having the courage to be yourself and being comfortable with who you are. This book will be up through September, and throughout the year, we will change the story so students and families can enjoy several different books along the path. We will share an update whenever a new story is put into place.

A big thank you to Maddie Pontius for bringing this idea to Logan Elm and to LEEF for helping make it possible!

Logan Elm is proud to announce the addition of four interactive driving simulators to our high school!

These simulators give students the opportunity to learn and practice important driving skills before ever getting behind the wheel of a real car. Students can work on things like using turn signals, looking both ways before going, yielding to emergency vehicles, and more. They have already been loving the new addition!

Thank you so much to the Maxson Family Foundation, the Maria Tiberi Foundation, and the Logan Elm Education Foundation (LEEF), in collaboration with the district, for putting together the funds to make this learning opportunity possible. We are so grateful for the support of our students, their safety, and their futures.

It was so good to have our students back in the buildings today! They spent the day getting comfortable in their new classrooms and buildings, saying hi to past teachers while getting to know their new ones, catching up with friends they haven’t seen throughout the summer, and getting back into the school routine.

We’re excited to welcome the rest of our students tomorrow and can’t wait to see even more happy faces in our hallways!

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela 1990

This morning, we had the opportunity to recognize some very special members of the Logan Elm family for their incredible commitment to education. Staff members celebrating 30 years in education were honored with an apple, while two of our staff members received the rare Golden Apple, representing an amazing 40 years in education—congratulations to Marsha Waidelich and Dale Kraft.

We want to thank each of these staff members for their commitment to education and to our students. Thirty and forty years is an incredible accomplishment, and it represents so much more than a number. It means showing up year after year, continuing to give your best even on the hard days, building relationships, supporting your coworkers, and making a difference in the lives of many, many students.

We are incredibly grateful for the time and heart they have brought to Logan Elm throughout the years.

Today, we welcomed our staff back to Logan Elm as we officially kick off the 2026-2027 school year!

We spent the morning catching up, reconnecting with one another, and welcoming the many new faces joining our district this year. After our annual convocation, staff members got busy with trainings, meetings, and preparing their classrooms for our students to arrive next week. We are so excited to have each of our new staff members as part of the Brave family!

While we said goodbye to many amazing staff members who retired last year, we are confident that the incredible people joining us this year will make a positive impact on our students, staff, and district.

Logan Elm would also like to thank Vinton County National Bank, who continues to support us here at Logan Elm year after year. Whether it’s providing breakfast and lunch or helping in the many other ways they do, we truly appreciate their continued support of our students and staff!

We are excited for a great year ahead! Welcome back, Braves!

Yesterday, we welcomed Dr. Jeremy Graves to Logan Elm for a Leadership Cohort with administrators and staff members from across the district.

Before the meeting, everyone was asked to read The Power of a Positive Team. Dr. Graves talked with the group about the book and shared ideas on building a strong team culture and working together effectively.

It was a great opportunity for our district leaders to talk about how we can continue to support one another and create a positive experience for our staff and, most importantly, our students.

Thank you to Dr. Graves for spending the day with us and to all of the staff members who took part in the Leadership Cohort! We’re excited to keep learning and growing together!

Welcome, Class of 2039!

Over the past two days, we had the pleasure of welcoming our new Braves during Kindergarten Jumpstart! Our incoming kindergarten students met their classmates and teachers, and got comfortable in their new school.

Students showed our staff members what they already know through activities focused on skills like recognizing letters, numbers, colors, and writing. This gives teachers a chance to get to know each child and helps ensure they're ready for a successful start to the school year. Many of our new kindergarteners were already making new friends and getting excited for their first day.

We loved seeing some of our littlest Braves get ready to begin their Logan Elm journey & can't wait to officially welcome our kindergarten class back for an incredible school year!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our second annual Brave Nation Tour! We are incredibly grateful for the amazing turnout and support from our community.

Thanks to the generosity of our staff, community partners, and volunteers, we were able to provide nearly 200 backpacks to local families. There was nothing better than seeing the smiles on our students' faces as they picked out their backpacks and school supplies!

We continue to be inspired by the willingness of our staff and community members to come together in support of our students. Thank you for helping make this event such a success. We can't wait to continue this tradition for years to come.
